Annually, usually in September, the well-known rowing races take place in Paris. With a 28-kilometre course passing by some of the city’s most famous landmarks, you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful scenery of Paris as many times as you want. 200 boats are docked at the sailing centre on Île-Monsieur in Sèvres and are waiting for you and 999 other rowers for a departure scheduled at 7:15 am.

If you have never practised a board sport before, you should know that everyone starts somewhere and there’s no need to be nervous because the centre offers beginner lessons for this sport!
The duration of each beginner lesson varies. With the CN19, we recommend you book a “session based on the length and plan for about 45 minutes per person” as you’ll need to wait about thirty minutes before you can experience the thrill of sliding.
Eatery barge of La Dame de Cantons
Located just a half-mile from the National Library, La Dame de Cantons is a restaurant barge that serves French cuisine in a charming setting. The unique aspect of this spot is that it was built on a genuine Chinese paddle boat.
As you dine, you will feel like you are exploring the steps of the Celestial Empire. The atmosphere is perfect for a cosy night or a romantic dinner with your partner, with wood being the dominant element of the restaurant’s decor. La Dame du Canton is made of 7 different types of valuable wood.

Go visiting the islands of Saint-Louis and La Cité
The island of Saint-Louis offers a panoramic view of the Seine river, located in the heart of Paris in the fourth district, just upstream of the island of Cité. Both islands are important historically, with the island of Cité being particularly significant.
Saint-Louis is home to the Saint-Louis church and the prison where Marie-Antoinette was held before her execution. It’s also known for its proximity to Notre Dame and the many beautiful bridges that cross the Seine. The island of Saint-Louis has a more private atmosphere and is home to many traditional restaurants, small shops, and the best frozen yoghurt store in the city according to locals.
Fishing
It is unnecessary to leave Paris to find a fishing spot as the Seine River is home to 41 different types of fish, which is multiple times more than in the 70s. The Gudgeon is the most abundant species, but it is closely followed by catfish, pike, and zander, which were reintroduced in the 2010s. For those who are lucky with a fishing rod, it is possible to catch a 4-kilo salmon in the Seine River, as one was caught near the Puteaux Bridge in 2012.
